“Does laser hair removal really work?” It’s a question we’re often asked in consultations. After all, laser hair removal promises to set you free from the trials and tribulations of traditional hair removal methods such as waxing, shaving or epilation, but is it really a miracle end to hair growth?

Yes, and no. It’s important to point out that laser hair removal systems such as Soprano ICE laser hair removal can permanently reduce your hair growth on treated areas by up 80%, but no system can currently permanently stop 100% of hair growth; hair follicles have incredible regenerative powers and some of the treated follicles may continue to produce hair.

That being said, laser hair removal is an incredibly effective method of hair removal. By achieving a permanent reduction in hair growth, many people go from having to shave their legs daily, for example, to only needing to shave their legs once or twice a month, if that. Laser hair removal doesn’t cause in-growing hairs, beard bumps or skin rashes that can be associated with other hair removal methods.

To achieve the best results, we will usually recommend that you have a course of approximately six to eight treatments, each four to six weeks apart. When you have a course of treatments, it gives us a chance to focus the laser energy on hairs that may have been dormant during earlier sessions and have just re-entered their anagen (growth) phase.
