What are Fat Dissolving Injections?
Fat dissolving injections work by breaking down cell membranes to liquefy the fat cell, destroying it permanently, releasing the lipids that are then eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system. The procedure consists of a set of injections (usually two), administered 3-4 weeks apart, whereby the targeted area is injected with a fat-dissolving solution.

It is important to know that fat dissolving injections are a body contouring and sculpting treatment, not a weight loss solution. Treatments with fat dissolving injections are only advisable for small, localised areas. Patients must be within one stone of their recommended body weight to have the treatment and be able to pinch about 3cm of fat.
* The results of treatment are permanent under the condition of maintaining a constant weight measurement (i.e. assuming you don`t gain weight). Destroying the fat cells is a permanent solution provided you retain a stable weight, eat healthily and continue to exercise as usual. Fat injections lead to a permanent reduction of fatty tissue; once removed, fat cells will not reappear.

Step 2: During your treatment
Prior to your procedure, our cosmetic doctor will show you to a tranquil treatment room. After a pre-treatrment consultation, the area of concern will be marked out. The fat dissolving solution is injected using tiny needles into the fat pocket. The needles allow small areas to be tackled effectively such as double chin or jowls.
Step 3: After the treatment
As Fat dissolving Injections are a non-surgical treatment, it means there are no general anaesthetic risks. As there are no incisions, stitches are not required and scarring is very unlikely.
Patients will typically experience minimal side effects when compared to more invasive procedures, such as liposuction. There are some temporary side effects, which include bruising, swelling, redness and irritation in the injection area. Sometimes it may feel slightly tender to touch, numb or itchy but these side effects usually subside after 1-3 days but may last up to 4 weeks.
How many sessions will I need?
A reduction in fat deposits can be seen after just one treatment, however, you may require additional treatments (up to 8) to achieve desired results.
What results can I expect to see from fat dissolving injections?
A reduction in fat in the targeted area can be noted from 4 weeks post-treatment. The speed at which noticeable results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes; younger patients are more likely to see results after a longer period. In very small fat pockets, the desired results can already be seen after one treatment.
Who cannot have fat dissolving injections?
As long as you are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo this treatment.
This treatment is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not recommended for those people who have been diagnosed with lipodystrophy or any pathological conditions.
Are fat dissolving injections safe?
Yes, when administered by a qualified practitioner using approved products, fat dissolving injections are considered safe. You may experience mild swelling or tenderness after treatment, but these effects usually fade within a few days. A full consultation ensures the procedure is suitable for you.
Does fat come back after fat dissolving injections?
No, once the treated fat cells are destroyed, they can’t return. However, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important, as weight gain can cause remaining fat cells to enlarge or new ones to form in other areas.
